For the first launching of an European exclusivity, we started to work on 2 concepts :
1) Waves
The main idea of this Fountain Pen would be to create a FP with the famous Hokusai wave :
Indeed, we would like to assert Sailor identity and history around Japan and the sea.
This iconic Kanagawa wave seems to be very suitable for this.
Therefore, we would like to work on this kind of model, probably with a Blue sailor FP (we think to use the blue from the logo sailor).
At this stage, we made a sample with the wave on the entire barrel.
This model is a prototype.
We though about the following main elements but everything is open to the discussion :
– Tream in gold 14k and 21k;
– Tream in rhodium or ion plated;
– Barrel in blue (same colour as the logo);
– The pattern would be print on the barrel or through the technic of Modern Maki-E
2) Maple leaves
For a launching during this autumn, we work on another concept around the maple leaves.
As for the waves, this model is also a prototype.
The barrel is in red on this sample but color can be changed as we initially worked on a black model and though the red one was more relevant for this concept.
Deatils on the product :
– gold tream in 14/21 k;
– tream in Rhodium or Gold;
– Colour to be discussed;
Depending of the discussion, the rough retail
prices will follow soon.
Anyway, at this stage, do you think those products could match the requirements of your customers ? and which one would you prefer : the 1 (waves) or the 2 (maple leaves) ?

Both look like great projects, the 1 (waves) seems more appealing.

We are working to provide soon a better project around the wave theme.
At the moment we just publish new ideas around the Mapple leaves, but we don’t forget the wave project.

It is a good idea to have a special for Europe!
I am afraid that the interest for the Waves will be low in my market.
The print is more for a low priced fountain pen.
The leaves could be better but perhaps without leaves the sales could be better?

Dear Hans, yes the blue colour would be nice alone.
Anyway, what do you think of the other projects (4 new ones : 2 in gold maki-e and 2 in modern maki-e).

I like the blue weaves. The nib must be 21k and the pattern should be done with Maki-e. Printed pattern are for low priced products.
