The Ohmurasaki, or giant purple butterfly, is Japan’s national butterfly and has been loved by many people since ancient times, spreading its beautiful wings as it flutters.
It is said that the name “Murasaki no Ue” the woman whom Hikaru Genji loved the most in The Tale of Genji, Japan’s most famous classic, comes from the Ohmurasaki. Purple color symbolizes her beauty and nobility.
Its deep purple wings emit a mysterious glow depending on the angle of the light, like stars scattered across the night sky.
